Account Information & Settings

How do I change my account's default location, display name and expiration date?

By default, the location and display name for your items will match your account's default item location and display name. The expiration date was set when you posted or uploaded your items. The following steps will guide you through making these changes.

First, click on the "Settings" tab on your Google Base account's homepage.

  • To edit location information: Under "Location and delivery," click "Edit" and enter the new location for your items, then click "OK."

  • To edit display name: Under "Display name," enter the new display name for your items.

  • To change your account's default expiration date: At the bottom-left corner of the page, enter the number of days you'd like your item to remain active. You can also specify different expiration dates for your individual (non-bulk uploaded) items. Please click here for information on creating separate expiration dates for separate items.

Finally, click "Save Changes" to confirm your changes. Any item location, display name and/or expiration date update should appear in our search results within a few hours.

Please note this change will only affect new items, so you must edit and republish all active items you have already created. For bulk uploaded items, resend your bulk upload file after saving your new location information.

Multi-client account

Multi-client accounts allow a single person or company to upload bulk uploads for multiple clients. Each client may have a distinct display name and URL.

A multi-client account will replace the existing Google Base single account and delete any active items in it. In addition, your new account will not allow you to create or view items individually, and items can only be added or updated by submitting a bulk upload. Lastly, Google Checkout cannot be used on Google Base hosted item pages.

Please note that at this time you must request a multi-client account if you'd like to submit bulk uploads for more than one website.

How do I set up a multi-client account?

To set up a multi-client account please contact Google and include the following information for each client that you'd like to manage:

1. Client's display name
The display name for each client.

2. A unique filename
The filename of the bulk upload for each client. Please do not duplicate filenames. If you plan to submit XML bulk uploads please ensure that your filename includes the .xml extension (e.g. base_site1.xml).

3. Item Type
The type of information you will be submitting for each client (e.g. Products, Housing, Reviews, etc).

4. Client's homepage
The homepage of the client (if applicable). Please ensure that the URLs begin with http://.
