Google Base Glossary
| Affiliate | An independent site or seller that promotes the products or services of a merchant in exchange for a commission. |
| Attributes |
Attributes define the characteristics or qualities
of your Google Base items. Each attribute consists
of a name and one or more values (NAME OF ATTRIBUTE:
VALUE OF ATTRIBUTE).

| Beta | A test or development. A version of a new product or feature. |
| Bulk upload | A file that contains multiple items. Users upload bulk uploads to create multiple items at once. Please review our bulk uploading instructions for more information. |
| Cache | A backup collection of web pages stored on your hard drive by your internet browser. |
| Cookie | Information, usually including a username and the current date and time, stored on the local computer of a person using the internet. Cookies are used by websites to identify users who've previously visited the site or registered on it. |
| Delimiter | The character that separates attributes in a tab-delimited bulk upload. |
| Display name | The name that will be displayed along with your items on our search applications. |
| Encoding type | The character set that a file is able to display. You may select either UTF-8 or Latin-1 in the Google Base. If your file is not encoded in either of these types, we may not be able to process your bulk upload. |
| FTP | File Transfer Protocol (FTP) - A common way for users to download or upload files to the internet. Many Google Base users use FTP to upload bulk uploads to Google Base. |
| Google Account | A Google Account is an account you can use to log in to Google Base and several other Google services, including Gmail and AdWords. If you've already created an account with one of these services, you can log into Google Base with your existing account. |
| MLM | Multi-level Marketing - An arrangement whereby sellers receive a commission for every new seller they recruit into a selling or reselling program. |
| Quoted attributes | Content in a tab-delimited bulk upload that is surrounded by quotation marks. You can use quoted attributes to tell Google Base to ignore formatting contained in your items. |
